My name is Kathryn. I am currently in a "fast track" apprentice program with Mazak Machines in Florence, KY. I am a fourth generation machinist. My mother was a CNC machinist, my father was a screw set machinist. Both of my maternal great grandfathers were machinists (one worked in the machine shop in the coal mines in Eastern KY and the other was a tool and die maker for Electrolux). And my paternal grandfather was a screw set machinist as well for Ford Motor Company. It actually took me going to mechanics school at Wyotech in Blairsville, PA in order for me to figure out that I wanted to continue the family tradition and be a machinist! Go figure! I am very interested in perfecting this skill over the next few decades and hope to utilize this forum whenever I get stuck.
