so, have me a recurring job, very small parts, and i have very no space for a machine to run them. my existing machines are either too slow with no tool changer and not precise, or... *cough* not running. the idea is just to acquire a new, full featured tiny footprint box for the job. theres no specific price limit, the price just needs to be justified by its output.
so, feel free to list any SMALL high performance production machines here, especially if youve used one.
the ones i know of so far are:
sieg H250 - 8x10 travel, $25000. cheap, chinese, tiny, and just barely enough features to be useful. this is a bt30 machine with 12000rpm, 8 position tool changer, 1200ipm rapids, linear rails, rigid tapping, and a siemens 808d control. of course with sieg, youd expect minimal support.
haas minimill (and supermini) - 12x16 travel, $40k with decent features. 40 taper, lots of power. base mini is slow-ish, and really not that mini. supermini gets up over 50k.
brother tc-s2dn-s - 12x16 travel, $70k. 30 taper, crazy fast, really tiny footprint and machines can sit side by side. this is probably the benchmark.
fanuc robodrill shortbed - virtually identical to the brother, similar price, similar performance.
so what other tiny high performance machines are out there?
:)
