I have a Hitachi wire EDM machine with a SP150 System H F control. I have successfully communicated with this control with an older Windows XP computer for a number of years. Upgraded to a Windows 7 pc, and the control is having an issue. When the 9 pin serial cable is connected to the com port on the Windows 7 pc, I get a 086 I/O Device Interface alarm. From past experience, it only does this if there is a physical problem with com ports or the cable.
To prove the control and cable are both working fine, I can hook up the cable with a Windows XP laptop and all is good. If I ask the control to read, edit flashes as it should indicating it is ready to accept a transfer. I can also use hyperterminal and send a program just fine..
So, obviously, the problem is with the new pc's com port. I called Fanuc and they said to try a USB-Serial adapter. Tried this, and still get the same alarm. At this point, Fanuc says I have done all that they would do, and don't have any suggestions. I was hoping someone here might.
Thanks
