I was checking the run out on my Chinese belt drive cz300 lathe. I had 0.0005” on the tapper and 0.0015” on the nose and on the flange face of the threaded spindle. I pulled the spindle and noticed discoloration on the tapered bearing races for both bearings. The discoloration was on the bottom where the small oil sump holes are located. I am hoping this was the cause of the wobble. The spindle seems ok. I plan on replacing the bearings and races—hopefully this will improve the wobble…
Any recommendations for replacement bearings while I have it apart? The old bearings where 30210 and 30211(50 and 55 mm ID) tappered roller bearings with no manufacture markings-- I will go with NSK or something higher quality. Is it worth going with a higher grade bearing for this machine?
Thanks
Ps--I was running the recommended oil--would synthetic Mobile1 10-30 be a better option?
