Bridgeport Romi Boot Prpblem

This is my first post on any forum, so it might not make much sense, just let me know. I just got my hands on a Romi 1994 model, that was just sitting for years. The problem is that the computer will boot to the reset cmos but also says kb/interface error, so I cant reset the cmos. The battery on the motherboard is a nicad soldered in and it has a Lithium battery plugged into the board as well. I haven't checked the voltage on the nicad but the lithium has 3.6V. I have very little cnc or computer knowledge. I want to retro this machine, but I want to see the mechanical parts work first if possible. If any one can point me where to start I would be grate full.
