Hi everyone. I have an 80's Ikegai Lathe with a Mitsubishi spindle drive and motor -DC. The spindle has no torque - and I mean NO torque. You can stop it with your hand. I have had a couple guys out to look at it and still no answers. The spindle will start up and run. It takes for ever to get up to speed but it will get there. Once at speed the load meter will show at least a 50% load. I have had the motor rebuilt and the drive has been tested and I'm told it is working fine. They tested the motor and it is fine. The drive is putting out 80A to the motor at proper voltage. The contactors are all fine. The problem is not mechanical - everything is free as can be. Spindle belts are not slipping - mitsubishi tech insisted that they were:( Have not worked on it in a while and the last guy I had out to look at it said it may be a phasing problem with the drive??? Anyone seen this before? any ideas to check out? Thanks!!!!!
