I have a production job on my Mazak QT8. It requires a M10x1.5 thread that I am currently drilling with a straight flute carbide drill and then tapping. My question is, has anyone had any luck using a drill tap combo? I know the speeds and feeds have to be the pitch of the threads. When I first got the job I tried spiral flute drills and they would end up drilling off center and breaking. The straight flute drills have worked great, I am just thinking about less tool changes equals less machine time.
