I pulled a transformer out of an APC PowerStack 450 and am having a real problem identifying what this transformer is and does. There are 4 leads on the primary side and all are 18 awg wire. There are 5 leads on the secondary side, three of which are 12 awg and two are 18 awg. Mind you that there are two sides to this thing for a total of 8 leads on the primary side and 10 on the secondary as they are (or were) connected.
I get a reading of .5 ohms between the black and orange wires and a reading of 1 ohm between the white and brown wires on the primary side.
I get a reading of .2 ohms between the white, yellow and purple 12 awg wires on the secondary side and .3 - .4 ohms between the blue and brown 18 awg wires on the secondary side.
I have a toroidal 120 vac to 18 vac transformer that I can use to run through the primary without having to go full on with it. I was just curious if anyone has ever encountered one of these multiple winding beasts before and if so might offer some advice as to how to test it and/or use it. I was hoping I might be able to build some sort of bench power supply out of it but I'm not so sure it will work.
