Im looking for any sort of help reguarding this old machine I have here. I have already contacted both Osai and DMG/Mori Seiki and both refuse to help or send PDF files to me since I am currently in Venezuela.
The machine: 1984 Gildemeister Lathe. Olivetti Osai contor controller. Manufactured in Italy. The machine did NOT come with a tape reader
The issue: When powered on I have either an Alarm 4 or Alarm 6. I have a very limited manual which is in Italian. It´s close enough to spanish I figured out these are memory alarms. I have had to reload memory from tape before into other old machines I have worked on so possibly this is what this machine needs. The ports for the tape reader are a round connector that I havent seen before. The pins are similar and it would be very easy to modify an RS-232 to interface with it.
My request: I am hoping for technical manuals (even if in italian or spanish) though I would prefer english, or any procedures that will fix the memory issue. Everything powers up just fine. I have a computer with a decent DNC and would not be opposed to going that route, but I would really prefer to have the controller working. Everything seems to power up just fine so if a DNC is necessary I just need the pinout from whatever the connector is.
If anyone can help me with this issue it would be very much appreciated. Right now I am at a loss and fairly ticked at both DMG and Osai for their unwillingness to email me a simple PDF.
Thanks, Jason
