Need Help! OSP500M-G Trouble running a large program

Hello all,

I’ve been through all the manuals several times and I just don’t see what I am doing wrong. This machine is new to me, and I am new to Okuma controls, so please be patient. The program is nearly 100K in size. Not large by today’s standards but for a 1992 machine it is apparently a challenge.

Here is what I am working with:

1992 Okuma VR-40

OSP 500M-G control

No DNC-B option (as far as I know, at least there is no DNC panel that I can find and I believe if it had DNC-B there would be a DNC panel)

Program is stored in BB1 as A.min and is nearly 100k is size

1) The first command line I used to try to execute the program was:

PS A.min

I got ERROR 2530 buffer over flow error 1. From the manuals I deduced that the fact that the program was larger than 16K was the problem

2) Next I tried to force the control into using Method B, which I think is what I need to do to execute a large volume program. I did this with this command line:

PS A.min;B

I get ERROR 2156 option error B. Which I am hoping doesn’t mean that this particular machine was purchased without the option to execute large programs with method B. In the manual it does not mention that operation method B is an option.

3) I also tried this command line

PS A.min;

The control asks “which method would you like to use” A, B, C, or S. Entering B I get the same ERROR 2156

4) The last thing I tried was setting NC Option Parameter Word #11 to 1, which should force all programs to be ran using method B, no luck. Command line:

PS A.min

Still gets the ERROR 2530 as before.

So there you have it. Any help would sure be appreciated.

Dan
