So I finally started a table. I received the new V rail gantry from Ron yesterday. I have been lurking around this forum a while. Was really considering the Torchmate package, but after reading all the good posts about Precision Plasma and Tom over at CandCNC I decided to build my own table with their components. Anyway, I am really a novice at the CAD/CAM stuff. When I went to school, we used drafting tables and pencils. I am sure I will need some help and this sure looks like a good place to get it. Here are a few pics. The table is Ron's design with a slight modification
Built it upside down on my relatively level 4 post lift
Here it is turned over before finish welding
And after setting the rails this evening. All the holes are tapped but I have to get some more bolts, then figure out how to square up the gantry perfectly.
My plan is to get the gantry square, then take it back off and start on the water table. The plan I got from Ron is for a flat bottom water table, but I am going to put a little slope in in for better drainage. What do you all think about the need for center slat supports? I see some with and some without. I am using 1/8"x3" slats, drawing calls for 53"
Comments appreciated. I have learned so much already from numerous table posts on this forum. I thank you all so much.
