I picked up a DM2400 today. It is in running condition. Once I get a video of it running, I will sell off the old control and stepper drivers.
Question, has anyone installed a Gecko G540 and used the original stepper motors? If so, did you wire the motor windings in series or parallel? I could replace the stepper motors, but from the pictures I have seen, while doable, not simple? Is there a gear reduction drive using plastic gears or is it a belt reduction?
I was thinking of replacing the power supply with a 48VDC unit, overkill or keep the original power supply?
My machine apparently had the auto lube. Long gone. I've never seen one. Thinking of getting a one shot oiler and just using that unless someone has a lube pump they'd like to part with. Also need a spindle belt cover, the one on my is damaged exposing the belt. Anyone have a spare? Or I wonder if Dyna Mechtronics still has them without charging a fortune for them. :-)
Thanks in advance for thoughts and advice. I already have a spare G540.
