Probing cam lobe for orientation

Got a job I'm starting soon and I want to probe an offset lobe to set my A axis orientation and was wondering if anyone here has done this? I have done this several time to set my A with flats using the macro 9818 (4th axis y measurement) but never on a cam lobe, is this possible? I just have to drill a couple holes through the shaft and I can make a set of jaws for my rotary but I would rather use the probe if at all possible. I will upload the part file so you can take a look at it.

I was thinking of taking a bunch of hits around the offset to set the orientation. This is on a Haas VF2/Haas 5C Indexer with a Renishaw Probe. Thanks.....
