I decided I would open the shop up today in order to try and shorten some of my leadtimes going into the new year. It does take a couple hours to get everything started back up and running after being powerless for a week.
Today wasnt any different and around noon everything is powered up and cutting chips and would be running most of the night tonight unattended.
I have my office set up so that if its nice and quiet I might even get to take a nap. I had spent part of my morning tracking a surprise Christmas present
for my better half that never made it on the 24th as promised. Knowing that UPS would be at my house around 3:30 pm I left early to make sure I intercepted the driver before it was delivered to my wife. In other words I
left the shop an hour early today. 5:15 we get a call today that my entire building is on fire. It was depressing to watch as I see my 4400 sq ft shop go up in flames. If the count was correct a total of 17 different firetrucks made an appearance. 3 hours later as they are putting their equipment away and I'm sitting alone in the silence of my truck this thought came to me...
Had I taken an afternoon nap in my recliner today I would not be typing this right now. I did lose everything including 4-40 x 20 VMC's and my 5' x 8' Techno router but I didnt lose my life. God is Good!
